How to Clean Your Washing Machine with Vinegar and Baking Soda
Over time, washing machines build up grime, mildew, and bad odors. Using white vinegar and baking soda easily blasts away residue and sanitizes the drum without harsh chemicals.

- White Distilled Vinegar- 2-3 cups (approx 500ml)
- Baking Soda- 1/2 cup (approx 100g)
- Microfiber Cloth- For wiping

Run a hot cycle with vinegar
Ensure the washer drum is empty. Pour 2-3 cups of white vinegar directly into the drum. Start the hottest wash cycle or select the Tub Clean setting.
Pause and soak
Once the machine fills with hot water and agitates for a few minutes, pause the cycle. Let the vinegar water sit for about 1 hour to break down scale and kill bacteria.
Add baking soda and run again
After an hour, resume the cycle until it finishes. Then, sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drum and run a short, hot cycle to completely deodorize it.
Wipe the rubber gasket and dispenser
Dip a microfiber cloth in some vinegar and thoroughly wipe down the rubber seal around the door (a prime spot for mold). Remove the detergent dispenser and wash it in the sink.
